Genre : Fantasy ,Böcker ,Unga vuxna ,Skönlitteratur ,Action och äventyr From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson: his debut novel for the young adult audience

More than anything, Joel wants to be a Rithmatist. Chosen by the Master in a mysterious inception ceremony, Rithmatists have the power to infuse life into two-dimensional figures known as Chalklings. Rithmatists are humanity's only defense against the Wild Chalklings—merciless creatures that leave mangled corpses in their wake. Having nearly overrun the territory of Nebrask, the Wild Chalklings now threaten all of the American Isles.

As the son of a lowly chalkmaker at Armedius Academy, Joel can only watch as Rithmatist students study the magical art that he would do anything to practice. Then students start disappearing—kidnapped from their rooms at night, leaving trails of blood. Assigned to help the professor who is investigating the crimes, Joel and his friend Melody find themselves on the trail of an unexpected discovery—one that will change Rithmatics—and their world—forever.

Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson brings his unique brand of epic storytelling to the teen audience with an engrossing tale of danger and suspense—the first of a series. With his trademark skills in world-building, Sanderson has created a magic system that is so inventive and detailed that that readers who appreciate games of strategy and tactics just may want to bring Rithmatics to life in our world.

I can’t believe this was written by Brandon

I never in my life thought I’d give a Brandon Sanderson book a low review. Was this written for children? Because if so, it went simple in the worst ways. It doesn’t even feel like it was written by him. It feels like he just slapped his name on it. I just... there’s a lot off about this title and I don’t like it at all. I’m still rating it higher than some but sheesh.

Awesome

I am looking forward to the hopeful sequel to this great book! Brandon Sanderson has once ahead gone and broken down the gates of originality and put his ideas in power. An incredible read.

I loved this book when I read it but at the end of the book it said to be continued. I was wondering when that would come out.

Man of the Bible

One of the best

I honestly read the hard-cover book, but I still want to make a review. I have a very specific type of books that I enjoy, and Brandon Sanderson meet every requirement I would ever have. Books that are fantasy, adventurous, mysterious, and , most of all, magical. Thumbs up to The Rithmatist. It is a true five-star book. I am eagerly waiting for Sanderson's next masterpiece.

Baddddddddddddd why

Amazing book, Sanderson has done it again!

This is truly a high quality fantasy book, if you're looking for something with a darker spooky like tone but will cause you to keep flipping the virtual pages. The book doesn't have explicit words or scenes which is a plus for younger readers who are intrigued about Joel's world of rithmatists and chalklings that might pinch of your skin and rip out your eyes without second thought. Over all a great page turner novel can't wait for the second book.

Good book, not worth $10

Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author. This wasnt on the same level as some of his other series. It was just Ok. ending felt very forced; as if there was going to be more but the author decided to wait. With Mistborn and Way of kings, each part's endings had a feeling of closure. This one ends with a literal and abrupt "to be continued".

Sharp Spoons

Intriguing, once again.

Brandon Sanderson has done it again. I am a huge fan of all of his books, however, I was skeptical about this one. Chalk? Chalkings? Geometry? It seemed pretty far fetched to me. I bought the book because I love all his other books, I expected this would be the first I did not like. I was wrong. Sanderson took something as mundane as chalk and turned it into yet another compelling story.

Jaag36

Different, yet engaging... Loved it

On par with the magic system in the mistborn series, Sanderson delivers to us another great system, slightly confusing and different, but engaging and fun. After Kaladin, from the Way of Kings, Joel may be one of my favorite of Sanderson's characters. With the help of a great supporting cast, you cannot help but root for Joel in every scenario he is forced into. As always, Sanderson's new world is awesome and inviting, and has a certain twist on the Americas and beyond. I certainly encourage anyone who is a fan of Sanderson's work, and of young adult fantasy fiction to give it a spin. It's full of twist and turns and keeps you guessing. I read it in three days on an iPhone. 927 little finger flips. Loved every minute.

If you're reading this review it's because you're thinking "chalk magic? that sounds more insane then werewolves loving vampires!" ...you'd be right...but it will also be a great read and the start of a new series by a great author whether you've read his work or not. Simply put, stop dallying with random reader reviews and buy so you can read. Once you start, you won't be able to stop until you're finished with the book.
